Summer Refresher
It's update time! It's been a while since the last one, and I've been cooking away at this batch of improvements for a few months now. Everything here was focused on squashing bugs, improving your experience, and prepping the way for brand new features and pages I'm planning. Here's what you'll notice.
A Fresh Look
Nyoom has a slick new logo and wordmark, with a new font for the website to go along with it.
Hopefully the little checkered flag detail comes through. The colors, borders, spacing, and typography across the site have also been standardized and polished. On my side of things, all of that was also completely reorganized in the code to make the site much easier to build on.
Faster Stats Pages
Loading a driver's stats page used to load the data for all five license categories up front for the iRating/Safety Rating graph. Six licenses if you count the old Road license. This could cause some drivers' pages (especially long-time members) to take a long time to load or even time out. Now, when you visit a driver's page, each category's data is only loaded as you need it. This should noticeably speed up the initial page loads.
Authentication Updates
Your login sessions should now be smarter, more reliable, and more consistent. There was a bug where leaving Nyoom open in a background tab could log you out on its own, and that's fixed. This system was a little rushed at the end of last year to meet iRacing's OAuth implementation deadline before Nyoom would've just stopped working, so a lot of work went into cleaning it up and smoothing things out for this update.
Sessions should also recover on their own more consistently. If you come back to an old tab, Nyoom quietly renews your session instead of bouncing you to the home page every time.
Speaking of that, if someone sent you a link to a driver's stats page on Nyoom and you weren't already signed in, the site was dumping you on the home page to log in and search for that driver yourself. I know, rude. This has been fixed! If you're not signed in, you'll be prompted to sign in through iRacing and then get brought right back to the page you meant to visit.
What's Next
There are some exciting new features and pages I'm hoping to release before the end of the year that will further solidify Nyoom's goal of making your iRacing stats more focused and enjoyable to analyze. Most of the work in this release laid the groundwork that these new features will need, including a lot of optimizing and reorganizing behind the scenes so I can build the fun stuff on top of it.
As always, feel free to reach out on the feedback page! Let me know if you notice the improvements, have ideas to share, or bugs to report.
